Budget....done!! Now to try and "earn" some money

Okay, so now that you have used the budget calculator in yesterdays post, are you happy with this budget?

Being a student, probably not, more money is always better. So before you start university in September make sure that you have got everything that you are entitled too. Most universities offer some form of bursary or grant, this is an income amount that you never need to pay back!! Sounds tempting, right?

There is no catch here, it is just the universities way of saying thanks for joining our university, heres some cash to help buy books (read: alocohol), equipment and stationary.

If you live away from university you may also be entitled to travel expenses paid for! So its worth checking out even if you think you won't get anything. As many courses will provide their students with a grant to purchase books and other bits and bobs. So check it out now, and make sure you know how to apply for the specific grant from your university by September!!

Even if its as little as £50 its better than nothing!! Check it out below...

Student Railcard

Student railcards are ideal if you are at universtiy and wish to travel to and from home a lot, they provide students with 33% off any train fare!
This is a great deal in my opinion, as at a one off cost of £26. It will last you for a year, and if you travel a lot the amount you save will be amazing.

For example, if you were to travel somewhere with a regular train fee of £100, you could get the ticket for the reduced price of £66 (1/3 off), thats a saving of £33, meaning that the cost of the railcard has been covered already, and anything you save from now on is a huge bonus!

It could save you hundreds of pounds a year...to spend on clothes, going out, or even a well deserved holiday!

Right now you can get a card with 10% off should you order it online.

To get this just enter the promotional code: Save10

You can also get a railcard to last you throught university, a 3 year card is available for £65 (saving you £13 on renewing every year) so if you know you will be traveling by rail a lot, then this is a must for any student.
