To click or not to click?

Sorry for not posting in the last couple of days, I have been moving into my new house at university and lots of traveling and setting things up has been required, and normal service will not resume until Tuesday, but I will try and post as and when I can! Sorry

Onto todays Student Savings...

If you haven't heard of Paid To Click (PTC) sites, they are sites that pay you for viewing advertisements each day.

Now, there are many many scam sites out there that will not pay up, so to help you with filtering them out I will post the ones that I am currently earning from...

But, first, there is a brand new PTC site called BuxWiz that pays to click, although you only earn a measely $0.01 per click, thats just over half a penny, this can add up. And I will explain the best strategy to do this.

BuxWiz offers a new way of earning money, most PTC sites make you have direct referrals, which must be gained through spreading word about the site. But BuxWiz allows you to rent referrals for a certain price each month. Meaning the earning potential is huge. This site is due to go live in the next few days so get signed up now to get in early, and gain as much as possible from being an early starter.

There are usually 4 ads to view each day, meaning you will earn $0.04 per day, and can cashout via PayPal once your balance reaches $2. Now this would take 50 days to pay out, but when you rent referrals it can become a profit daily.

For example, if you have 100 referrals that click 4 ads everyday, thats 100 x $0.04, or $4 a day!! meaning you will gain $28 a week and $1,456 a year!! All for doing nothing but click ads and getting referrals.

This is just the start to my PTC write up, I am currently proposing a spreadsheet, strategy and earning potential for you all to view, as I believe there is huge earnings available here. If you are a student, just click 4 ads a day, and you could be earning that little bit extra to help out with university life.

So, to get started, get involved with BuxWiz now, before it comes widely known, and you could be earning enough for a few nights out each week, for free!!

P.S. Stay tuned and come back for updates on PTC sites and how to maximise you potential, I will post proofs and all sorts of tips for you to earn that little bit more as a student!

Get sorted for September

The worst thing about getting ready for the new year at university is having to spend on stationary, books and equipment.

To help with this, I have managed to find these vouchers to use at W H Smiths. They entitle you to the following:

  1. £5 off when you spend £15 on stationary and cards
  2. £5 off when you spend £15 on kids books
  3. £5 off when you spend £25 in store (Not including Mobiles, CD's, DVD's and games)
  4. £5 off when you spend £20 on books (excluding kids books)
Wow! Get down to W H Smiths now, as stationary and books are essentials for university, so no matter when you buy them it will still set you back some cash. But with these vouchers you can save £5 off it!! Even if what you want to buy doesnt come to the £15, get some extras as more paper or pens will come in handy throughout the year. So stock up on them now while you can get £5 worth of stuff for free!!

This offer is only available until the 12th July 2009, so that gives you roughly 3 weeks to get stuff sorted for university...early!

Heres the link to the vouchers. Just print them off, cut them out and show them when purchasing your stationary or books.

Quids in

Another amazing site for you today, if you do a lot of online shopping, then you could gain cashback on each transaction.

Cashback is a way of saying, thanks for buying with us, here is a bit of money back for doing so!

Sounds great, so how does it work?

Well, every time you want to shop online, use a cashback site and click the link to it from there. Then just go about your normal process and voila, after a period of time you should earn some money back from your purchase.

My favourite cashback site is Quidco, it is the biggest of all cashback sites and offers a wide range of sites to choose from. Just click the link, shop, wait, then get money back.

The only disadvantage of this is that the site keeps the first £5 you make during the year, but if you do a lot of online shopping anyway, this can be made back quite quickly. It is then transferred into your bank account. Saving you the pennies!

It's like student discount, but online! Very nice. So, get using Quidco now for tonnes of online shopping savings.

Phone Piggy Bank

Today, I recieved my cheque from PhonePiggyBank which as stated in this post, is a site which will recycle your old mobile phone.

The site is fast, reliable and easy to use and I would recommend it to all students who have old mobile phones hanging around. My phone was a complete mess, a large crack in the screen and no battery cover, and they still sent me a cheque for just over £10 for it! The stated amount was £20 but after them assesing the damage they sent an e-mail, in which I had to respond with a Yes or No answer to whether I want to accept their amount or not.

Then, they will post a cheque and confrim it has been posted via e-mail, and i received my cheque 2 days later in the post!

Very efficient service, and I would recommend it to all students!

So get onto PhonePiggyBank now and receive cash for your old mobile phones

Blog Update 18/06/2009

What has happened on the blog this week?

Firstly, Student Savings has been advertising and promoting the site in as many ways as possible, with a huge traffic increase of almost 80% in the last week! (Thanks to all you regular readers and followers)

This week the weather has been pretty dire, with rain everyday, most likely due to me jinxing it in last weeks post. So, I have spent much of the time indoors researching and finding excellent deals and money making opportunities for you guys!

Student Savings has also this week become a member of Traffic G, a site aimed at furthering visitors to the site.

If any of you guys have any queries or questions you would like to ask, please feel free to comment and I will get back to you as soon as possible! Along with any ideas or ways of saving money you may have.

Thats all for this weeks blog update, not much I'm afraid, as of yet ,there is still no about me section, which should be coming in the next few weeks, along with hopefully a proper feed.

To keep you going, there is a bonus code for Public Enemies at SeeFilmFirst, which is 675543

6/17/2009

Its that time again!

Ok, so the only post I could make yesterday was this, so to make up for the lack of free cinema codes I will post it today, along with the blog update, which will be coming later this afternoon.

For those of you that are regulars to this site, you know that Tuesday is film day, well as I was unable to post it yesterday, today I have 3 film codes for you to feast your eyes upon.

Firstly, is Public Enemies, to save all the ranting about the film, check the trailer out below:

Heres the code:

703112

The second film code for today is for Bruno, which looks extremely funny, check it out

The all important codes for you are:

237334 and 533441

Finally, the last free film code to use at SeeFilmFirst is for My Sisters Keeper, see the trailer below for more information:

And that all important code:

397568

Remember, all you have to do with these codes is enter them at SeeFilmFirst, check which cinema near you has advanced screenings available, then just select how many tickets you want, simple as that. But remember to act fast as these codes go faster than Jenson Button in a jetplane (which would probably be no faster than anyone in a jetplane but what the hell, you know what I mean)

P.S. Sorry for not posting this yesterday, I have tried to compensate by giving you 3 codes instead of one. Enjoy =)

Like Music? Who doesn't?

Yesterday, whilst browsing the web, I came across this site, which is a site aimed at supporting young and upcoming artists and bands. You may be asking, well what does this have to do with making and saving money?

Well, Slicethepie pay you for each song you listen to and review, obviously if you only give it a rating of 1-10 you will receive a small amount, but once you have written short reviews that are meaningful for so many songs, you gain a "level", meaning that each review you now do will give you a little extra! Sounds good no?

Well, I have only just started this yesterday, and have already raised 24p, thats 4p a song for 6 reviews. This may not be the best way to make money in the world, but once you have raised your first £5.00, which can take as long as the amount of effort you put in, you are able to raise money for yourself. The first £5.00 you raise must be donated to an artist of your choice in order for them to become signed. And you may be mentioned in their first album or recieve a sample copy if your review is good enough!!

I believe this site is an excellent opportunity, not just to make that little bit of extra cash, but listen to unsigned artists who may be the next big thing. So, get to Slicethepie now and start earning money for listening to music.

That little bit extra

As a student, making the most of your money is a hard to skill to adapt, but once you do it, you are set for life with managing your finances. Although todays post is a little late in the day, mainly due the fantastic weather were having, meaning sunbathing, barbeques and what not! So this is the first chance I have had to get on the internet!

Today I am going to discuss how to rake that little bit of extra income for your year at university. The summer months can drag by if you dont get yourself a part time job, so to try and soak up a bit of time, try one of the following:

  1. A car boot sale - You can get rid of many uneeded items from your garage, anything you havent used in the last year, that isnt valuable enough for Ebay (See point 2) take to a car boot, you never how much you will make!
  2. Secondly, everyone goes on about it being one of the best sites on the internet, and it can be if you know what your doing! Get any old items that have some value and set up an Ebay account, bear in mind that you must have a PayPal address and keep in mind that Ebay will charge you for each auction lot you put up, so make sure you set a price low enough to attract bids!!
  3. If you have any old video games, such as them old PlayStation 2 or Xbox games collecting dust, get onto PlayTrade, so far I have sold 3 games on there this last week. Each for £5, much better than taking them in for exchange at Game or GameStation where you will be offered a minute sum. There is no charge for putting an item up for trade, but Play will deduct 10% of the final sale fee! In my opinion this is better than Ebay, but obviously is only available for DVD's and Games etc.
  4. The final way to make that little bit of extra money and free up some space is through Amazon, the used service here is also a great way to make a little extra cash, I mainly use Amazon for books, but you can sell anything should you so wish. Although, if it is a large, rarer item, Ebay may be a better option!
Thats all for today people, sorry for the lack of update yesterday. The weekend + sun in england = very rare, so I've spent the last 2 days sunning it up!! Whats with the weather lately? Could it get much better? I've probably gone and jinxed that now, fingers crossed it stays with us for a while longer yet!!

This little piggy went to market...

I discovered PhonePiggyBank through OnePoll, a survery site with a high payout of £40, which I do every now and then, but Lightspeed is much much better!! Anyway, enough about surveys, what todays blog post is about is PhonePiggyBank.

What PhonePiggyBank do is take cash for your old mobile phones, I recently sent off my old Sony Ericsson W810, which had a huge crack on the screen, they offered me £20 for it. Which isn't bad considering the state it was in!

What you do is go onto the website, select your phone model, they will give you a price for it. Then just accept this price, and you will receive a letter in the post. Mine came within 2 days!!

You then just put your phone, fully charged, into the jiffy bag, and put on it the FREEPOST label provided. So no need to even pay for postage! Then just send it off, easy as that!! I would recommend recorded delivery to prevent any damages, this came to 75p for my moible phone.

They will then send you a cheque in the post once they have received your phone, all in all a very good website for students who have old mobile phones lying around gathering dust. A nice way to make a bit of money on your old mobiles!!

And most of all, its free!! (apart from the small payment for recorded delivery should you choose to send it that way)

So, get on over to PhonePiggyBank now and trade your mobile in for cash.

Every little helps

Yesterday, I was cleaning out my room and managed to find £2.50 under the bed, and I thought to myself, what if I were to put £1 away every day for a year. That way, come a year I will have £365 saved up for possibly a holiday or something special. And that £1 everyday I'm sure wouldnt be missed, to make sure that you don't touch the fund you can buy money tins that you cannot open unless you use a tin opener, this is a very good investment indeed. You can get these for as little as 99p from your local card shop!

I now have 3 of these, one for coppers, one for silver and another for my pound coins. I have already saved up £5 in a little matter of 2 days, just from coins I manage to find around.

Now, I was recently browsing blogs, and came upon this post regarding the same idea, and I believe it to be a very good idea indeed. To put away £1 everyday for a year, this is easy to do, as instead of buying that lunch or sausage roll, just put the pound in your money box.

Thanks to Darietto over at Money Saver Blog for this great idea!!

Everyone get putting a pound away each day, to save up for next years holiday! Let me know how you get on...

Are online surveys worth it?

In the case of Lightspeed, the answer is simple, yes!

I have tried out many survey sites in my time, very few actually are profitable, or have a high pay out amounts. But Lightspeed are different from other survey sites in that they reward you with points instead of cash, and what do points make? Prizes! (cheesey =P)

I joined Lightspeed last week and have already accumulated over 500 points and today I received my first payment of £3 through PayPal, this may not seem like a lot, but in a week, for half an hour of my time each day, I wouldn't say no.

So, for students looking for that little bit of extra cash to help, get onto Lightspeed now, as they will stop recruiting very soon, and earn points which can be redeemed for various prizes, such as HMV, Amazon or MP3 vouchers, and physical prizes are available too!!

It is the only survey site that I have joined so far that have actually paid out. So hurry on over there now to start earning a little bit of extra cash!

Blog Update 10/06/09

So, whats happened on the blog this week?

The blog is now 3 weeks old, and is coming along nicely, with new features being added all the time, this weeks main addition has been the new logo and header banner. What do you guys think of it?

This week has also seen the blog become a part of blogarama and blogtoplist, two sites which will help in promoting the blog, there isn't much else to update on this week due to me being away for most of it, although, as a nice little suprise, I realised I had earned some money through AdSense, even though there is very little advertising on this blog. So, thank-you for your support whoever it may be =)

Thats about it for the update this week guys, sorry its so short!! Check back next Wednesday for a new update!

Anyone for a beverage?

I went into my local Martin's store today and they were advertising free drinks, I thought to myself, how have I not heard about this? So I went up to the store assistant and asked about it, he said just text the number and I can give you a free drink. I did that, and voila! Free bottle of Dr Pepper, it always goes down better when its free too, dont you think?

I thought I would share this offer with you guys, so heres the deal:

  1. Text YES, space then your date of birth, in the format DDMMYY to 67444
  2. They will send you a specific code
  3. Take this code into the store and show it to the checkout assistant
  4. Then choose a free 500ml bottle of either Sprite, Fanta or Dr Pepper!!
How amazing, no?

Also, if you ordered them free Orange SIM cards from before, even the text is free to send. And as far as I am aware they dont charge for you to receive the text either. Its all good.

This offer ends on 28th June 2009, and apparently you can get up to 5 bottles with the same mobile number, so I guess thats 10 with the Orange SIMs =)
Although, only 1 bottle per day is allowed. You must also make sure that once you have the code, go collect your bottle within 12 hours, as the code will expire after this time!!

Here is a store locater to find your neasrest Martin's store too

Free Cinema

SeeFilmFirst is a website allowing anyone to see a film at certain cinemas first, and most of all, for free!!

All you need to do is enter a certain code into the box and it lists all places where you can see the film for free. I believe this opportunity to be even better than the 2 for 1 Orange Wednesdays, because this is free!! Although, this is based on a first come, first serve basis.

So, to keep you guys up to date with any latest cinema codes, I will be listing a new one each week for your viewing pleasure. The advanced screening is available at many major cinemas throughout the UK. Just enter the code, select the number of tickets you want. As far as I know, only two tickets per person are available. So you must be quick, these advanced screenings fill up fast!!

To kick off this excellent website, this weeks screening is The Hangover. Get the code below:

Smoking Ban!

This day 2 years ago, the smoking ban was introduced, and how much better do we feel now pubs and clubs smell so much nicer?

The 1st of June also means that us students should be budgeting for summer, I'm about to create a budget for myself and plan holiday spending money, you should too. Having a budget helps tremendously, if you plan how much you can spend each week or month, take that amount out of your bank, and then put away that bank card. See how you get on with the cash you have, it will save you a fortune!!

Doing this will make you more disciplined with your money, control what you can and can't buy. So, get creating your budgets, taking out the money you are allowed, and locking away your debit/credit cards! (Although credit cards are big no no, student or not!!)
